Reeder faces a major threat.

A very sinister man buys a coffin, cash, only he won't disclose who the intended resident is. People are investing,.but vanishing, Reeder is given leave by Sir Jason to investigate.

I enjoyed this one quite a lot, not just a typical crime drama, this one had a more Avengers feel to it, with Reeder placed in a desperate suggestion. The atmosphere in this episode is first rate, it's wonderfully sinister throughout, the opening scene where Ernest is trying to buy a coffin is great, and sets the tone.

Ernest and Joseph are a really creepy duo, although I really struggle to see John Le Mesurier playing a villain, but he does a fine job, although he still comes across as delightful.

A fine round off to Series one. 8/10

Reeder investigates a case of some missing people. Usually on the first day of each month.

The people had invested in a secret scheme where they got a good rate of return each month. However the missing people seemingly had no relatives or friends.

Reeder's investigation gives him a name called DeSilva and brings him to the offices of a firm of solicitors who acted to give a reference for the investment company run by DeSilva.

The stakes rise in this story as Miss Belman disappears and she had invested with the company.

John Le Mesurier plays the urbane solicitor Joseph Bracher who runs the solicitors practice with his brother. However should Reeder suspect that Joseph might be more sinister than he lets on.

Then there is a mysterious letter given to Reeder from a man who has just been released from prison. It contains a deadly riddle.

A good episode to round of the series. Reeder finds himself in mortal danger a few times although I did groan a little regarding how he was saved from a crushing defeat.
