Fantastic episode

Warning: Spoilers
Arthur is nominated for jury service for a case Chisholm is involved in and asks Terry to mind the shop. Terry's girlfriend Debi gets involved in a robbery at a house that Terry gets tied up in. The jury conversation is very well done with one of them a famous face Gyneth Strong from Only Fools and Horses and another too busy knitting to participate in any decision or discussion!!

Comedy version of 12 Angry Men
Arthur Daley gets called for jury duty. Some of his lines are so good even the cast in the jury laugh at them. The cherry on top? Insp Chisholm is the investigating officer in the case so Patrick Malahide gets several quality scenes.

Daley holds out for an acquittal. By the end he's even getting laugh lines out of his frazzled appearance.

Meanwhile, Terry's GF leaves stripping to start an in-home hair-cutting business. Trouble starts when her client gets robbed. The Ol' Bill fingers Terry and the GF. As usual, Terry has to do the legwork to get himself out of trouble. Excellent fight in a tyre yard.

This episode has so many funny lines you'd have to watch it twice to catch them all. A standout episode even by the standards of the uniformly excellent Series 3.

Great subtle comedy

The jury room situation has the best lines of dead pan comedy ever

Arthur to posh woman who is convinced the accused us guilty by his face , "you can't judge a man by his boat"

A confused Asian lady to Arthur " I'm confused , what is boat?"

Arthur straight back to Asian lady "boat race Madam"

Arthur's straight face gave the look as if that should fully explain the phrase to the Asian Lady

Classic

Poetic Justice, Innit?

For Arthur it is a case of 12 Angry Men. He is on jury service. Much to Chisholm's annoyance as the accused is a man he nicked.

As Arthur is familiar with the law, especially the blue bobby kind, he becomes the foreman.

Arthur is convinced despite evidence to the contrary that the accused is innocent and sets out about trying to change the mind of the other jurors.

Meanwhile as Chisolm is busy at court. DI Soames has Terry in his sights.

Terry's on/off girlfriend Debbie is now an ex stripper and become a hairdresser who goes to people's home. When a client is violently robbed, Soames think that Terry was involved.

Debbie is also being hunted by the actual robbers. It leads to a terrific showdown between Terry and the robbers in a scrapyard.

As for Arthur, it turns out one old lady in the juror knows the accused very well.

This is a fondly remembered episode where it becomes clear that despite the fisticuffs. Arthur is now very much the main man as Minder is concerned. It is Arthur who provides the humour to balance the grittiness and gets the best lines.
