Pretty good.

A female spy, Felicia (Katherine Woodville) has stolen part of an overlay that shows NATO defenses. She plans on getting the other half by bribing a man to give it to her--thus enabling her to sell the plans for a fortune. The IM team's plan is to substitute the half she plans to buy and substitute it with a fake map. And, as usual, to maneuver her and her confederate, Captain Cherno (Joseph Campanella) into doing each other in by the time the credits roll! What makes this a bit unusual is Jim--who is hypnotized before the mission so that he can withstand torture and truth drugs as well as Rollin. In a rare show of violence, Rollin is forced to shoot two guys--a rarity for the series.

This is a good but unremarkable show. If you aren't a fan of the series, it's not one to see but for fans it's well worth your time with a rather original script and lots of action.

IMF team mission is to prevent the sale of a NATO defense map

Warning: Spoilers
The IMF team is given the mission to prevent the sale of a map that is one part of another piece that was taken by an enemy female spy. The female spy intends to purchase the other part that is being stored in a vault by bribing one of the officers guarding the vault. Jim Phelps plays a fake guard who has to get the map before the officer that was bribed can get to it. He is put under hypnosis before the start of the mission in order to prevent from being interrogated after his capture after getting the map portion out to Rollin. Rollin has to deal with the female spy and pretend to be interested in selling the map to her. Cinnamon creates a fake map piece to replace the one that Rollin is offering to sell. Jim comes out of his hypnotic state when he sees that a "russian roulette" game being used by the bribed officer is about to shoot him. The final scene comes about when the IMF team informs the commander of the group guarding the vault about what is going on with one of his officers and the spy. Rollin has to give the fake map to the bribed officer who comes to the meeting place that was arranged with the spy. The officer then gives the spy the map portion for the money that she was going to give to Rollin. She double crosses him and shoots him. The commanding officer then shoots her. This episode includes a romantic development between Rollin and the female spy. Rollin also has to shoot and kill two enemy agents. At the end, Rollin looks at the dead spy on the ground as the episode closes.

THE MAP FAKE-OUT CAPER.

Katherine "Kate" Woodville is perfect as a beautiful and devious spy in this excellent episode, shades of a JAMES BOND character if there ever was one.

Kate plays Felicia, a spy probably working for Russia, who has stolen only half of a top secret map that reveals NATO defenses. The M. I. team enters the picture, planning on doing a super switch and put a second fake map in her hands. Joseph Campanella is also very good as the notorious Captain Cherno, working in league with Felicia. Naturally, the rest of the mission is to turn them against each other, a familiar sub plot in many episodes.

There are some outstanding scenes here. Phelps is hypnotized so he cannot be tortured. Cherno, who is a work of art, holds a gun to his head and pulls the trigger --and you can see the bullet chamber and how many more "clicks" Phelps has left before he could be shot! Meanwhile, Rollin, who plays a spy, strikes an awkward relationship with Felicia (who can't be trusted) and the two are beginning to fall in love. This is evident by the close of the episode, without giving too much away. A very poignant scene, which is rare for the series.

A-plus acting on the part of Kate Woodville, who soon after this episode would guest star on STAR TREK in the role of Natira, which brought her much acclaim. Veteran actor Karl Swenson plays Colonel Dubov, best in authoritative roles.

A solid script turned in by Barney Slater, who was associated with LOST IN SPACE. About 10 years later he was killed by a hit and run driver, a tragic Hollywood ending.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 16 remastered CBS/Paramount dvd box set. 7 dvd set. 2007 release.
