Old Shows Are Like Old Library Books-The Classics Are The Best

This 1st episode is timeless. It's as funny today as then. The writers had patience to allow the main character 20 slow valuable minutes to appear, something unheard of today. The horse and new owners' 1st conversation had the viewers laughing and clapping never before in a new show. The lines were snappy and crisp - "What kind of name is Ed for a horse? What kind of a name is Wilbur for a man?" Mork And Mindy is probably the only comedy fantasy to come near the clever writing but Williams zaniness carried that show. Script is always the best for laughs, unless it's Harpo Marx. Ed was Wilbur's mentor, oh sure he was a successful architect with a beautiful new wife and brand new home in the countryside. But as he was standing there in the barn so happy he got to keep a horse(something he said he always wanted since a boy and how long it had been since then) Ed says off camera how it's been such a long time since he was a pony and that scene was an explosion of comedy fantasy never equaled since.
