Ok, now this is a great episode - one of Season 4's best actually. Pete has a near-miss with a hit and run driver, but a dowdy Edith Bunker-type woman is killed instead. This sends Pete on a mission to track down all the parolees who may have it in for him.
The plot is more complex than usual. Whenever the writers respect the audience's intelligence, give us a good mystery and don't "dumb it down" the show is all the better for it. Every single guest character here is fascinating to watch - even the smallest ones like the guy at the employment office, the construction boss and the landlady. This one is perfectly cast and well-played and each scene will hold your attention.
There are plenty of small fun details such as seeing Linc and Julie pouring over newspaper archives (1971's version of Google) and the scene with them posing as insurance adjusters is elevated by Julie's extra vivaciousness.
Everything just clicks here and all the actors are at the top of their game. One of the best of Season 4 and best of the whole series.
