Asa Lorimer's clinic was the ornate Frederick Mitchell Mooers House at 818 South Bonnie Brae Street, Los Angeles, California. Fans of the series will recognize it from its earlier appearance when it served as the home for unwed mothers that was actually a front for an illegal adoption ring in Child of Sorrow, Child of Light (1969).
The comic book prominently placed on Lorimer's waiting room table when he speaks with the Amorosa family is Classic Comics Illustrated #022, an adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's novel "The Pathfinder." Its placement was likely intentional, as just a few moments earlier Lorimer described himself as not a doctor but "more of a trail guide" to the healing potential that lies within each person.
Russ Purdee refers to himself ironically as Barney Oldfield. Oldfield (1878-1946) was a pioneer automobile racer from 1902 until 1918. Oldfield was the first person to drive a car at the once-incredible speed of 60 mph.
"The Healer" on the VEI DVD is a syndication edit that runs only 45 minutes instead of the standard 51 minutes.
