According to the narrator, the story takes place in the village of Avon-On-Calling, an obvious reference to "Avon Calling" which was a phrase associated with Avon beauty products in the 1960's.
During the musical number at the end, Mickey is shown playing a Moog synthesizer which actually belonged to him. He was one of the first 20 people in the world to own one.
This is the fourth and final episode to feature a Monkee playing duel roles, and perhaps the most famous. In this one, Michael Nesmith also plays Princess Gwen. With this episode, each of The Monkees played a duel role at some point in the series. Mike is also the second Monkee to be featured prominently in drag, as well.
Following the death of Michael Nesmith on December 10, 2021, MeTV aired four episodes of The Monkees as a tribute. In addition to this one, the other episodes shown were "I've Got A Little Song Here", "Monkee Mayor", and "Monkees In Texas".
