In the first scene, Davy Jones is sitting in a chair on a set. The green carpet, drapes and back porch reveal it to have been filmed on the set used for Bewitched (1964).
Producer-director Bob Rafelson filmed the concert on his own, without permission from NBC or Columbia studios, wanting to end the series' first season on a different note from other television shows.
At the beginning of the music romp for "The Girl I Knew Somewhere"(Nesmith), the 45 rpm single on the turntable at the radio station is "Mr. Farmer" by The Seeds (LP: "A Web Of Sound", Crescendo Records, 1966).
In the teaser sequence, when Davy Jones tries to explain how this installment is all about their tour, Micky Dolenz, Peter and Mike all wear fake beards to hide the actual beards they grew during their Headquarters recording sessions. This sequence is shot on 35 mm while the rest of the show was filmed on 16 mm.
KRUX-AM was a major Top-40 station in Phoenix at the time and sponsored The Monkees' concert that evening.
