Hunky Greek immigrant Hercules Valvalotus (a charming portrayal by Tony Spiridakis) is forced to take a physical in order to pass his U.S. citizenship test. However, it turns out that Hercules is hiding a big secret about his actual identity.
Director Bette Gordon relates the enjoyably inane story at a snappy pace as well as maintains an engaging tongue-in-cheek tone throughout. Moreover, it's acted with zest by an enthusiastic cast: Wendy Makkena contributes a lively performance as uptight immigration official Maggie Price, Luis Guzman lends amusing support as smarmy hustler cook Luis, Rick Aviles does well as Maggie's disapproving boss Mr. Vega, and Deborah Harry has a cool cameo as sultry physician Dr. Moss. In addition, there's a cute twist at the end concerning how Hercules finally acquires his American citizenship. A total hoot.
