When the TV-series was first shown in the 1970s in Finland, "The 127th Annual Upper Class Twit of the Year competition" sketch was interpreted to mock people with cerebral palsy and thus YLE discontinued to broadcast the series after this episode.
The Japanese cast died in almost the exact order as the upperclass twits, with Yasuo Yamada (Graham Chapman) being the first to go and Shozo Iizuka (Terry Jones) as the last one standing. The one difference is that Taichiro Hirokawa, who dubbed Eric Idle, died before Takeshi Aono, who dubbed Michael Palin.
Graham Chapman, an experienced mountaineer, did his own stunts for the Wood Party broadcast sketch.
The idea for the sketch The Upperclass Twit of the Year came from the patrons of a wine bar near John Cleese's Sloan Square home. The Sloan Ranger patrons kept Cleese up at nights with their comings and goings and loud drinking songs. According to Graham Chapman, this sketch was the Pythons' revenge.
The real Adolf Hitler was 56 when he died in 1945. So "Mr. Hilter" would have to have been 80 years old in the 'North Minehead By-Election' sketch.
