The last will Maddie writes reads: "Being of sound mind I write this last will and testament on this 24th day of October 1986. I leave my house to my husband david and my six children. My car I leave to my mother in the hopes she will not get as many speeding tickets as I have gotten in the past." Then she is interrupted by David.
The line David says when leaving the post office "the mystery guest just signed in" was taken from the TV show "What's My Line? (1950).
When originally telecast, the Marvelettes song, "Please, Mr. Postman" is played during the post office scene. In syndication it is replaced with Shake, Rattle and Roll.
C Thomas Howell is uncredited as a postal worker during the finale chase scene
