- Shortly before Christmas, Cabot Cove tycoon Alan Forsythe welcomes Charlie Davenport McCumber, fiancé of his daughter Elizabeth, into the family and as the new firm partner, which Bert Lazarus begrudges. Charlie gets an anonymous blackmail tape with a message, from a woman, in his car. Beth finds it and sees him kiss a mystery girl. At a charity raffle, a Santa shoots (but not fatally) Wanda Andrews, who works for the city, with Charlie's gun. Floyd Bigelow reveals he suspects Wanda of embezzling $400,000 from the pension fund. Jessica doubts the obvious and sets a trap to clear Charlie.—KGF Vissers
- It's Christmas time in Cabot Cove and Charlie McCumber and Elizabeth Forsyte become engaged. Charlie is an army vet who served in the Gulf war but is studying hard to get his accountant's certification and join his future father-in-law Alan Forsyte's firm. After getting a threatening cassette tape, Charlie finds Wanda Andrews shot but still alive. When the police find Charlie's pistol nearby, he's arrested. He certainly has a secret - a little girl from a previous relationship - which could have been what the tape was all about. The colors red and green are central to Jessica solving the case.—garykmcd
