- TV show Scrutiny star presenter Kevin Keats must drop his story on art collector Ronald Ross's drug connections to take over a JB Fletcher's roots profile. All Cabot Cove wants to look good, but when Sheriff Amos Tupper tells Keats about a bald man arriving in a helicopter, Keats recognizes him as Ross's hit man and asks the sheriff to discretely hire a boat to escape. However, the next morning after Keats gets on the boat and starts to leave, the boat explodes. Mayor Sam Booth orders Jessica to stop 'her' media circus. She discovers Keats was unfaithful with colleague Paula Roman, his wife knew and was in town. Dr. Wylie Graham finds the burned corpse isn't Keats'. He staged his disappearance by switching places with the real victim, producer Doug Helman. Jessica digs further in both private and professional lives till the threads meet.—KGF Vissers
- After an on-air journalist from the investigative TV show Scrutiny gets Jessica to agree to a segment on her and her life in Cabot Cove, she learns that the story has been passed on to her hard hitting colleague Kevin Keats whose most recent story was on drug dealer Ronald Ross. Jessica is leery to say the least but agrees to go along. When Sheriff Tupper sees someone later identified as a hit man arrive in Cabot Cove, Keats asks for his help in getting him a boat so he can get out of town. Keats doesn't even get out of the harbor, however, when the boat explodes. Now Cabot Cove is inundated with media, all wanting to get the latest information on the death of one of their own. When the autopsy reveals that the body from the boat could not have been Keats, Jessica has both a mystery and a murder to solve.—garykmcd
