On May 28, 1982, an individual named Joe Billie Gwin, forced his way into Phoenix TV station KOOL (now KSAZ) and forced news anchor Bill Close to read a statement on-air while holding him at gunpoint. Close read the statement and Gwin surrendered his weapon. He was promptly arrested.
