- A man caught carrying a cash register takes Andy and Danny to a body. Fancy is packing up to leave. His replacement alienates the squad before he's even left.
- In their quest to avoid horrible soon-to-be-boss Lt. Susan Dalto, Andy and Danny are out pursuing longshot cases when they bust a stumpy junky named Freddy during his unsuccessful quest to heist a very heavy old-fashioned cash register. They reluctantly head back to the 15th, where Lt. Dalto is being such a total asshole that newly-fulltime Det. Connie McDowell bluntly tells Capt.-to-be Fancy that she wants to nix her transfer because she is sure her career won't last long with Dalto around. Fancy hints that things "tend to work themselves out" and later has a breakfast meeting with now-retired Inspector Bass. On the Freddy front, the little weirdo is eager to give up his past crimes to avoid jail, and he initially doesn't have anything of enough value to make a deal palatable to Andy and Danny...but then he says he saw a young girl get murdered and leads them to her skeletal remains. The girl is ID'd as Alyssa Santos, an immigrant from the Dominican Republic who came to live with her aunt and uncle. The aunt his devastated at the news, but her uncle is cold and says he's not surprised, that they threw Alyssa into a group home for troubled kids because of her drinking and whoring around. Lt. Dalto is eager to ruin the 15th (and she strongly implies, to get Andy fired) but she gets a phone call that ends all that: she's been transferred out of the precinct, something Fancy not only doesn't really deny he caused but leads him to call her out for being worthless and ends with him telling her to get lost. The cops are happier, but the ugliness of Alyssa's murder takes hold as they realize that the entire world failed her: they find out she was raped by family members in her former home, and then molested by her uncle, and her disappearance from the group home was not investigated much by the home or a lazy beat cop. The uncle admits he had sex with her (he can't be arrested because she's dead) but denies any involvement in her murder. An arrogant local drug dealer says that Alyssa was the "village bike" and also is amused to tell them Freddy's sister was the same way and Freddy's attempt to stand up for her led the dealer to kick his ass and stuff him into a trash can. Andy and Danny realize that Freddy, who unsurprisingly admits to serious mental illness issues, is the only one who could have killed Alyssa, and he confesses he did so in a fit of rage. As the case closes, Andy and the rest of the squad meet the new boss: Lt. Tony Rodriguez, fresh from Narcotics and ready for his first leadership post in the NYPD. He is the immediate anti-Dalto, promising to work hard and to trust his detectives. He also wins over Fancy with his praise, and in the squad review Fancy says that Andy is "unique" and then says that if anyone he loved was ever killed he would want Andy to be the detective trying to catch their killer. The squad has a racket for Fancy where everyone, led by Andy, wishes him the best and they all have smiles.
