**SPOILERS*** A tale of brotherly love in the big city that ends in disaster with former prison cell-mates Frankie O'Hearn and Joe Brothers played Peter Falk & Neville Brand, you know he guy with all the teeth, meeting up in the Big Apple, NYC, and trying to pick up where they both left off behind bars: Continue their close and buddy buddy relationship but it's Frankie who now has second thoughts about it. Frankie by going up in the world of crime doesn't want to travel back with Joe, a full native American Indian, to Nebraska to open up a egg & chicken farm on a strip of land that Joe bought there.
He's got far more pressing problems like knocking off Alburto Russo, Leonardo Cimino, who stiffed him out of some 5 to 7 thousand dollars that he had loaned him. With the now going straight and away from his life of crime Joe wanting to straighten out his somewhat crooked friend Frankie out he's determined to keep him out of trouble even if it ends up costing him his life! Despite pulling off the hit on Alberto, on a deserted pier, Joe still tries to get Frankie to see the light as well as reform himself before he does any more damage to himself or anyone else.
***SPOILERS*** Getting Frankie to attend an Irish square dance party in Hell's Kitchen Joe feels the people and music, as well as dancing, will loosen Frankie up but in fact it has the opposite effects on him. Not being able to keep his hands off a gun that he secretly planted in the dance club's kitchen Frankie is caught red handed by the late Alberto's brother Nick,Dino Di Luca, and that's when all holy hell brakes loose. And by the time that it was finally over it had engulfed both Frankie and his good friend from the can or behind bars Joe Brothers. And Oh Brother what a crazy ending it leads to!
P.S Casting both Peter Falk and Neville Brand as brothers, figuratively not biologically, didn't turn out to be such a great idea after all! They don't even look alike! It was in fact that dance party that Frankie was talked into by Joe to attend with all the booze the women and partying that just didn't play that well with him. It got Frankie all drunk and crazy and by the time the evening was finally over the two "brothers" were in no condition to make peace,or smoke a peace-pipe, with each other!
