A Small Flame Can Exist in a Cold Heart
JordanThomasHall5 June 2017
Butch (Trent Lehman) is trying to join the Oak Street Marauders, a group of slightly older boys. For his initiation they make him go to the lawn of the fierce Herbert T. Peabody (famed ventriloquist and later animated voice actor Paul Winchell). Butch must take the garden hose and bring it back to the club's hideout. His brother Hal (David Doremus) adds that he'll then take the hose back to Mr. Peabody in person. However, Butch is caught by Mr. Peabody and calls the police who smooth it over between them. Their father Professor Everett (Richard Long) is upset with the boys and takes them to see Mr. Peabody who sends them away. Nanny (Juliet Mills) comes up with the idea of taking the club and Prudence (Kim Richards) to spruce up Mr. Peabody's desolate landscape while he is gone one day. He returns angry and calls the police once again. Bringing them home from the police station, the professor states, "I think we learned an important lesson today; not everyone who needs help wants help." At the supermarket, Nanny picks up Mr. Peabody's bag of groceries by mistake and goes with Prudence to swap bags. With the door open, they walk into the house to see curious carnival-like decor and sit down for a Punch and Judy puppet show. Mr. Peabody and Nanny begin to talk out their differences through puppets.
