The only time in the entire series where the uncanny resemblance between Maggie Sheffield and C.C. Babcock is ever acknowledged (by C.C.'s father). These two actresses share such similar features, including eyes color, cheekbones, skin and hair color, that they could have easily passed as mother and daughter.
In her opening scene, Fran wears a rainbow jacket made with vertical stripes of different bright colors and split sleeves with hanging rainbow strips. Exactly 2 weeks later, on April 27, 1994, Ellen DeGeneres would wear the same exact model in episode "The Hand That Robs The Cradle" of her sitcom, Ellen, for a gag revolving around that jacket. It's not known whether they used the very same garment for both actresses. In Ellen, it is referred to as "the clown suit". Said garment would later resurface at breakfast, when Fran Fine wears it in Stock Tip (1994).
The title is an allusion to the song 'Ode to Billie Joe' written and recorded by Bobbie Gentry.
The nanny's rainbow "clown jacket" was also previously worn by her in the limousine, in Schlepped Away (1994).
Repeat fashions for Sylvia, as well: the satin red blouse with the sequin panther at back (and across her shoulders) which she points out to C.C.'s father, would later resurface in The Chatterbox (1995), when at the beauty salon.
