Last episode to be shot on videotape.
Last episode for Jennifer Holmes as Leslie. The next episode would bring back Julia Duffy as Stephanie, Leslie's cousin introduced in What Is This Thing Called Lust? (1983). While Leslie was a smart, reserved, and humble rich girl, Stephanie is the epitome of the class-conscious, pretentious, society girl. After dutifully noting that Leslie relocated to England to study at Oxford, she would neither be seen nor spoken of ever again.
First of three appearances by Richard Venture as Doc Owens. His final two shows come in the second season.
The title is based on the song "I Enjoy Being a Girl" by Rodgers and Hammerstein for their musical "Flower Drum Song". The original Broadway production of "Flower Drum Song" opened at the Saint James Theater on December 1, 1958, ran for 600 performances and was nominated for the 1959 Tony Award (New York City) for the Best Musical.
