Wow, what a refreshing episode, I really mean it, this has all the ingredients that make a good, solid Night Court episode, playing one the best character (arguably) the show has: Dan Fielding. We have seen that Dan has a heart time and again, but this is the first time (and this is saying a lot when you have 5 seasons already) that we actually see Dan without any kind of "make up" about what he is feeling. Sure the episodes with his operation a couple of seasons ago showed this side, but not to this extent. It suits the episode and you get to see Dan with it's heart happy and broken all at once. Dan loses but he can't help to be happy for the other person maybe for the first time ever, In the end when a girl throws herself at him ,I thought to myself: here we go again, but no. to my surprise it doesn't take the comedy route you're excpeting. Also let me talk about the finest appearance of Mel Torme in the show, and the first one where Harry actually sees him and talks to him as a buddy, the several other ones either Harry missed him or he was too drunk to realize who was in front of him, and Mel Torme did a fine job. he who ows so much to this show. Great, Fun Episode, what more can you want? 8/10 ******** Peter Shelby
