You Can't Go Home Again
The Realm of the Insensitive might be a better name for this one. Let's start with Chris. He, of course, is brilliant in some ways, but he is also utterly insensitive at times. A young woman whom he adored in high school has heard him on the radio and is coming to visit. He describes her as a goddess on another plane of beauty from anyone else. When she arrives she seems rather plain. Chris immediately treats her like dirt and fixates on his lack of judgement, never considering her feelings. Maurice goes to the home for the criminally insane and checks out the young violinist so he can woo that robot like cop that he is crazy about. The guy is a mess, but a musical phenomenon. Maurice dehumanizes him several times. Meanwhile, Joel discovers a mammoth near a glacier and goes bananas. When he calls a university, they send an ornithologist. What happens next is really beyond belief. Even for this show. It's so wacky, I still can't be critical of it.
