Film Festival
Hitchcoc15 March 2024
Maurice continues to be the absolute Philistine. He has designs on building a luxury hotel in the area and needs to attract attention. He engages Ed, the local filmmaker, to drop whatever he is doing and do a film festival. This includes publicity, advertising, coming up with filmmakers, and running the whole show. Ed does amazing things, including bringing in classic movies and getting Peter Bogdonavich to come to town. Maurice has no knowledge of film or the people who would attend such an event. He harasses Ed from day one, referring to Orson Welles as "that fat guy who sells wine." He has no interest in the quality of any of this as long as it sucks in some foreign investment. Ed begins to break down. Meanwhile, Leonard begins to do research on how mythology of the white people directs their lives as does the mythology of the Indians. Finally, another explosion by Fleischman when he refuses to become part of the volunteer fire department. He shows how he will turn on anyone if he is inconvenienced.
