Greta has forgotten a planned dinner with Peter's (Michael Callan) mother. As they are leaving, Greta's boyfriend Bernie (Stuart Margolin) arrives dressed as Merlin the Magician for a costume party she has also forgotten about. Greta has him go to the party with another woman and Peter brings the sexy cavewoman-dressed Delores (Inga Neilsen). After the party Bernie realizes Greta is the only woman for him and returns to her apartment to ask her hand in marriage. Peter tries to squander the notion and tells him that Greta is going with another man. Bernie is depressed and turns to his sister Bernice (Eunice Christopher) who talks him into fighting for her. They see Greta as she's helping Peter's boss Mr. Brahms (Jack Collins) shop for his wife and Bernice insists that he is the other man. Bernice and Bernie begin to follow them, becoming increasingly suspicious.
