- The spy takes the stolen whale recordings back to Dr. Hellegren at the competing UBRI research station - Hellegren is eager to become the first person to communicate with whales. While the boys try to enjoy some time away from ORCA on Neri's island, Dianne continues her research, uncovering Neri's remarkable telepathic ability. Dr. Hellegren uses the stolen recordings to lure Charlie into an isolated bay bounded by an electrified net. As Dianne readies Neri for her first dance, Neri begins to hear Charlie's calls for help and dashes out in the middle of the dance. Curious as to why someone would steal recordings of whale songs, Commander Lucas decides to takes a closer look into Dianne's research and discovers all about Neri.
- At Orca, Neri is taught by Jason how to dance to music. There is to be a dance party later that night.
On the bridge, the intruder is found out to be Billy Nielsen, training installer, who left on a boat to the mainland right after Brett and his friends chased him. He was planted at Orca to steal the whalesong recordings, but they do not know why.
In another lab (at UBRI), technicians listen to the tapes. Billy gets a bonus for his undercover work, but he insists he did not do it for money, but because he believes discoveries should be shared.
Jason notices Neri is changing during her stay on Orca. She does not ask about Charlie at all. Jason and Brett go the the island without her, but even though they are trying to enjoy themselves, they realize that without Neri the magic is gone. While on the beach, they look out to the ocean and notice that Charlie is moving away and they wonder where he is going. UBRI works to trap Charlie by using the stolen recordings to lure him towards a bay where they can raise an electronic net.
Neri wakes up from a dream about the ocean and Charlie, but she does not want to leave "family". Tests continue on Neri in the lab. Neri's ability to "see" when blindfolded is described as being superhuman by Dianne and Winston. They think she may be using some sort of echo location to see the pictures during the lab test. Then Neri is asked for a urine specimen and she laughs, "What for"?
Commander Lucas requests H.E.L.E.N. for clearance to access the lab's private records. He wants to review Dr. Bates' work files from day one. He discovers about Charlie and the female humanoid and that she is on board Orca.
At the dance, Jason waits for Neri to arrive. And when she does, he reacts with surprise to her new look and remarks, "You look like a real girl"! Jason asks Neri to dance with him and during the dance, Charlie uses all his strength to call out to Neri. She runs out of the dance to help Charlie.
Dr. Bates and Dr. Seth are asked to report to Commander Lucas. He confronts them both saying he knows all about Neri.
