Don Murray: Earl Corey

Quotes

  • Jemal David : There's a bad man out there, your friend Jeb. He's got you blinded by stories of the old days at Willow Hill and Yankee carpetbaggers that you can't see nothin'.

Earl Corey : Only a Southerner would understand.

Jemal David : You're forgettin', it's my South, too. You think just 'cause I left it, I don't love no mo'.

Earl Corey : How could ya love somethin' that brought ya such misery?

Jemal David : Maybe 'cause I had so little, I loved it more.

  • [last lines]

Earl Corey : You know, I been thinkin' about what you said last night.

    Jemal David : What's that?

Earl Corey : About it bein' your South, too. It kinda makes us... cousins in a way.

Jemal David : Corey, I'm gonna have to think about that.

    [Jemal laughes and Corey smiles]

  • [Corey has just shot the murderous Collins]

Jeb Collins : We growed up together. You did this for *him*.

[Collins tries to get up, but collapses and dies]

Jemal David : The man just couldn't let it go.

Earl Corey : I guess we did grow up together... but that was a long life ago.
