This is one of those television experiences that has stayed with me to this day. I saw this when it was broadcast the first time and I had trouble sleeping that night. Now I've seen it a second time and it still leaves me in the depths of sadness. No spoilers. The plot isn't so complex. A ship is bringing a batch of serum to earth to circumvent the spread of a plague that could end life on the third planet. The ship is old and rickety and goes out of control as it approaches a gas giant. It crashes and the crew members are injured. One of them goes out to explore the damage and while there he is attacked by a kind of crab/spider creature. He makes his way onto the ship but has been chewed up pretty well. A doctor on board has managed to remove the thing. The captain is dealing with a horrible concussion that would kill him in 48 hours. Now, some strange things begin to happen. The principle character suddenly finds himself in a safe environment, being cared for by wife, son, and the doctor that was on board the ship. What's going on here. He then slips back and forth between "realities." This leaves him trying to figure out which "side" he should choose. No spoilers. Watch it to the very end. It's a classic "Outer Limits" episode.
