"Home is Where the Heart Was" is another child's fantasy, this time putting Chris and Tracy in the spotlight, deciding to run away from home after tiring of their mother's scoldings. Shirley allows them to go, on the assumption that they should want to return home, her older children guilty of running away in earlier times, as far as Mrs. Monahan's house, always welcomed with brownies. This time, the kids fail to return in a timely fashion, finding their way over to Reuben's apartment, where they enjoy swimming and playing with the neighbor's sheepdog. Reuben is happy to play go with Shirley's ideas, until the untimely arrival of his regular girlfriend, stewardess Bonnie Kleinschmitt, played in all four appearances by lovely Elaine Giftos (next seen in "Bedknobs and Drumsticks"). The kids get a look at Reuben's 'Playpen' magazine (Chris: "it almost looks human!"), while Bonnie promises to wait an hour on Reuben's promise: "you don't want to go through your whole life with the name 'Kleinschmitt' do you?" Both featured songs were taken from third LP SOUND MAGAZINE- Tony Romeo's "I Would Have Loved You Anyway," later heard in "Promise Her Anything But Give Her a Punch," and "Summer Days," also composed by Romeo, previously heard in "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Partridge."
