"They Shoot Managers, Don't They?" suffers from one major flaw, that perpetual bachelor and manager/surrogate father Reuben Kincaid would instantly fall in love with a total stranger (Nancy Malone) and accept a job working for her full time, leaving the managers' duties to someone else. New management fails to curb clients' demands, while booking all six family members into a single room containing only one bed. Reuben dutifully returns, having discovered his fiancée's fatal flaw- she doesn't like kids, a revelation that Danny blurts out with great glee. The final bit has him suggesting a new game, 'Lost' ("you three kids run away from home...two or three weeks, I'll come look for you...if I find you, I lose!"). The featured song is "She'd Rather Have the Rain," composed by Terry Cashman and T. P. West, from the LP UP TO DATE, with Dave Madden expertly showing off his skills as a physical comedian ala Dick Van Dyke.
