The final performance of John Banner
kevinolzak5 March 2014
"Who is Max Ledbetter and Why is He Saying All Those Terrible Things?" marked the final performance of John Banner, whose HOGAN'S HEROES had ended only the year before after six successful seasons (he passed away in his native Vienna Austria on his 63rd birthday, Jan 28 1973). Cast as phony psychic Max Ledbetter, he's hired to entertain at Tracy's birthday party, so Danny sees an opportunity to predict easy money. Unfortunately, Max too is desperate, hoping to save his bakery from foreclosure, telling Danny that if he doesn't receive $156, something bad is destined to happen. The featured song is Tony Romeo's "You Don't Have to Tell Me," the last episode to select a track from third LP SOUND MAGAZINE.
