Bad Signs

Warning: Spoilers
Charlie and Owen meet a woman named Nina while shopping in the market. She likes Owen and seems to be a nice person for kids, besides she works in a zoo. Later, Charlie takes Owen to the zoo so he can see the owls, and there they find Nina. He tells her how his situation tends to scare people, but she says it's ok, she likes someone able to settle down. Then, they have a date, a dinner, where he starts to sweat. He thinks it's the pepper, so they keep talking. She reveals that her parents are dead (seemingly wasn't a joke, but she said that they died struck by a lightning in a mountain, close to Nepal), but that she never really met them because they left her, so she was raised by her grandparents. They both laugh at the story, but the little bit of happiness fade away when Charlie gets sick, and feels the sweat getting worse. He tells her that they can see a movie other time, so he goes home. The next day, he scheduled another date with Nina, but but he still feels sick, and Claudia thinks he did a mistake by asking her out again, given his condition. When Nina arrives, he rexmcognizes that he can't do this, that he's sick, and says he's sorry, that is not an excuse, so she leaves. At the night, he reaches Claudia, who was dreaming with Reed, and asks her for the pepto (for his stomach). He tells that he can't sleep and feels exhausted, has like nausea, so when she checks his forehead, he asks her to open the window, as he needs air. She's worried and rushes to bring him the pepto. In the morning, he goes to the doctor, who makes some blood and urine tests. He says he might get the results back in 24 hours. The next day, he's surprised to hear by the phone that there's no bad results in the blood tests, because he has been sick, and still feels sick. He feels lack of apetite, and says that he hadn't slept in days, so Claudia thinks he is in love of Nina, as she is in love with Reed. Although he finally gets better, and can get another date with Nina by reaching her at the zoo, it's clear that the first symptoms of his illness are already here. His deep suffering in seasons 2-3 affected him inside and now it's showed in his body. No, Claudia, he's not in love, as will be showed 3 episodes later, Charlie has cancer. The story was well written, because no one can say his illness came out of nothing, the facts are clear, and the symptoms are here. Nina seems like a great woman, yet the story of her parents and that her grandparents raised her, means that she's a different person than Charlie. The best of her is that she gets along well with Owen. To finish this part, I have to remind how sad is the situation for Charlie. Now he was sick, and the only person who can help him in the house is Claudia, his "kind of" young daughter. This just tells how lonely their life has become. One, two seasons ago, there were 6 persons living in the house, now there's only 3.

Meanwhile, Bailey and Sarah struggle with a tenant Annie Mott, a single mother with a 7 year old girl, who can't believe Bailey's lack of experience in fixing things in her apartment. Soon, Bailey and Annie find each other in AA meetings so they make a connection. They both recognize their life problems, even Bailey tells he has become an addict to recovery, and she gets the feeling. But this will be a bad sign for Sarah, who already seems a little jealous and can't understand Bailey's behavior towards Annie. She figured out that he met Annie at AA, but she thinks that it doesn't give her the right to mistreat them for the problems at the apartament. Another bad sign for Sarah is ignoring her parents in the phone, because one day she will regret it. This story wasn't so great, the best moments were when Griffin visited them to help, Sarah was happy with Bailey at the beginning. As for Julia, she already starts to mess up things in flirting with her boss at the museum, only to get a promotion. Not good Julia. She even avoided using the wedding ring. Obviously, Griffin starts to worry alone at home. Although she retreats at the end and takes Griffin to meet her boss, this is a bad sign for their marriage.

Charlie meets a bird feeder from the zoo that he really likes but keeps on feeling sick. Julia wants to get a job but her new boss doesn't realize that she is married. Sarah and Bailey have a very annoying tenant and then he meets her at AA meeting.

A pretty good episode with all stories being interesting. I liked the story about Charlie and his new date. It was funny how they met when Owen pretty much proposed to her. And she seems pretty fun. I also liked Claudia's diagnosis of him being sick.

The story about Annie the annoying tenant being an alcoholic was also good. Nice how we could see that it made her and Bailey connect.
