Penn and Teller debunk the believers of the Nostradamus prophecies, which seem to mean anything their enthusiasts want them to mean. A survivalist camp provides instruction on how to survive in the woods when the end of the world nears; but two Brooklyn infiltrators take a dim view of the proceedings. Christian authors peddle end-of-the-world stories, such as "Left Behind" and "The Late, Great Planet Earth," and inspire Penn's profane epithets that question their integrity.
This is the worst episode so far. Yes, it must be annoying that these Nostradamians and doom-mongers always receive sympathetic coverage on other, more dubious, TV documentaries. But how fair is it to interview the people and then shout nasty names at them in a voice-over while editing the tape to make them look as idiotic as possible? Is the point of this show to persuade and inform, or is to get revenge on fools and jerks?
Similarly, it's one thing to humiliate the bestselling authors. It's another to humiliate poor, weird Erich, one of the survivalists. We can see that he's weird without Penn spelling it out for us and possibly deeply hurting him (if he has ever emerged from the woods to see, or hear about, the show). I thought Penn and Teller sided with the misfits.
