The Psychophonic Nurse - 1954 - Pepsi Playhouse

Electronics engineer, Lee Marvin and writer, Joanne Davis are the proud parents of bouncing little girl. The two have decided to follow teachings of a Dr. Spock type wacko. They refuse to give any emotional affection to the child. A problem pops up right away in that every nanny they hire refuses to go along with their rules and quits. "A baby needs love and attention," they all say.

Marvin decides he will build a electronic nanny/nurse to take care of the child. That way Davies can continue with her writing. They give the robot a human form and face and program it to care for the child.

This works well till Marvin realizes that he does enjoy holding and playing with the child. He builds a lookalike robot so he can sneak the baby out for walks etc.

This works fine till a sudden storm knocks over a tree catching Marvin under it. Davis comes looking for them and discovers that is impossible for her to avoid emotions as well. They quickly unplug the nanny/nurse and toss the child rearing books out.

The rest of the cast includes, Karen Lilly, Effie Laird, Mary Menzies The director was Leslie Martinson while the d of p was John MacBurnie.
