This episode is based on the novel, "Case of the Negligent Nymph" by Erle Stanley Gardner, originally published in 1950.
Bonnie Jones played the defendant in the two shows in which she acted, the other being The Case of the Frustrated Folk Singer (1965).
Don Dubbins made seven appearances in the series, including three turns as Assistant DA Bill Vincent.
This episode is very similar to The Case of the Negligent Nymph (1957) (1.12). They both have the same basic premise of a note in a bottle supposedly proving that someone was murdered instead of accidentally dying in a boating accident. This is not surprising since both episodes are based on the same novel.
