Due to Ray Collins' declining health, the character of Lt. Arthur Tragg would appear very infrequently until the eighth season when his name was removed from the credits on the show.
This marked Wesley Lau's debut as Lt. Andy Anderson. Two episodes earlier, he actually had appeared as Perry's client Amory Fallon in The Case of the Impatient Partner (1961).
The scene of the port where the salvage occurs is a black and white shot from Operation Petticoat (1959) where the sub "sinks" a truck.
Paul told Perry that someone used a "gypsy switch" to substitute crates full of scrap iron for crates containing machinery. The term is used in magic to describe a trick where coins are moved from one location to another by sleight of hand.
Captain Bancroft tells his first officer, "Mr. Griffin, I was making this run while you were still in Rompers." Rompers is a name for "a piece of comfortable clothing for babies and small children that is made of one piece of material and covers their whole body." The name seems not to be used as much 50+ years after this episode was made. The closest term used these days (2024) is "onesie" (pronounced "won-zee"). There was a children's show called Romper Room (1953), with the title based on the Romper clothing.
