One of the few times we hear the words "so help me God" at the end of an oath as a witness is being sworn in.
This is the second episode of the series to take place in the fictional community of Logan City. The first was The Case of the Drowning Duck (1957).
There is no actual Logan City in California, but there is a town called Logan about 325 miles north of Los Angeles, near Salinas.
Unlike most of the cases in the series, this one was solved during a coroner's inquest rather than a court hearing. A coroner's inquest is generally conducted to determine the cause of death instead of the guilt or innocence of someone.
The only shared credit of Edgar Buchanan and Mel Blanc, with Blanc voicing the episode's parrot and about a year and a half later starting his long role as the voice of Barney Rubble on The Flintstones (1960). Buchanan would later co-star on the sitcom Petticoat Junction (1963) with Bea Benaderet, who had provided the original "Flintstones" voice of Betty Rubble.
