Pillbox Pilfered
DKosty12312 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Peter Martin wrote only 1 script for this or for any series which is interesting. His one effort is a dandy. Set in Hollywood, there is a television production of a script known as "Mr. Nobody" going on. The executive producer is playing lots of financial games in order to fund his overseas efforts while this production is a sham.

The producer turns up dead, but the writer of the Mr. Nobody script is mad because the producer stole his script. That is a strong motive for the writer to kill the producer, but as Mason takes him as his client, he has a lot of sorting out to do. What makes this a strong script is the court room sequence. In it, a desperate Mason who is making little progress takes the only break he has in the case from Paul Drake & plays a great poker hand to solve the case.

Another good showing as we get a 'Hollywood Type' mystery
kfo949429 August 2012
A rather homely druggist named Herbert Simms writes a TV script called 'Mr Nobody'. Mr Simms sends the script to a fast-talking swindler producer named Charlie Corby. Mr Corby uses the script to make a pilot TV show, however he has no desire to share the money with Mr Simms. In fact, Mr Corby has no desire to share any of the money with anyone working on the production. This causing problem with all on the set.

Mr Simms, feeling like he was being taken, had stolen his script back from Mr Corby's office But in order to have a civil case, the only way to prove that Corby used the script is to have him in possession of the entire written material. So Mr Simms decides to return the script to the Corby's office. But things go terribly wrong when Mr Simms is caught running from Croby's office and when security investigates, they find Corby dead but not before uttering Mr Simms's name.

Perry will now defend Herbert Simms on charges of murder. But there will be plenty of suspects that would have liked to have seen Corby dead, so Perry will file through the line-up in the courtroom witness stand.

This was actually a very interesting and entertaining show. With the many suspects and the unique 'Hollywood Type' death- this held the viewer to the end. Not until the investigation ends up in Mexico City will Perry get a break. Good show.

A Venture into the Movies
Hitchcoc26 January 2022
A young guy submits a script and fails to copyright it. It is stolen and used by a two bit producer for a supposed television show. This is a fun episode because there are several interesting characters. It is a Hollywood mystery that works pretty well. One thing that I shouldn't admit but I couldn't take my eyes off the young woman who had lived a life of luxury after three husbands.

Gotta Agree

Warning: Spoilers
**SPOILERS** I agree with the other reviewers. There's just one detail I'd point out, and that is the three beautiful brunettes in this episode. Geraldine Brooks, and Dianne Foster play good parts in this drama, and they also play good competition for Barbara Hale, although, in my opinion, Della reigns supreme. Her acting is better than almost any other actress to appear in this series (R.I.P. Ms. Hale).

Before Perry Mason became the unbeatable attorney
bkoganbing30 December 2013
One thing about Hollywood it has often painted a brutal picture of itself in films about the movie business. Just look at The Bad And The Beautiful and The Big Knife as examples. Another example is this Perry Mason story where Raymond Burr gets to defend young Linden Chiles the son of a drugstore owner whose store Perry hung out at while in law school. One of the few episodes which reveals something of a personal life before he became the unbeatable attorney.

Chiles has writing aspirations and I know the feeling and he'd like to make it in show business. He gives a script to a sleazy producer played by John Lasell who later winds up dead. But I said he was a sleazy producer so therefore there are load of alternate suspects. But poison was found in his system and who better than a druggist could be considered a poisoner.

That's what Wesley Lau thinks and William Talman prosecutes on the basis. But we know they're wrong as usual.

Interesting story with a glimpse of the personal Perry.

Mr. Nobody
zsenorsock5 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Once again Perry gets involved in the world of show business when Herbert Simms (Linden Chiles) the son of a couple who helped him out when he first started is accused of murder. Simms wrote the teleplay for "Mr. Nobody" a pilot that unscrupulous producer Davis Crane (Ben Cooper) appears to be shooting using borrowed money. When Crane turns up dead, pharmacist Simms is accused of murder.

It's too bad the series didn't do more of these Hollywood stories. I always find them entertaining and fun to watch. "Hogan's Heroes" co-star and future director Ivan Dixon plays a witness who testifies for the pharmacy board and favorite character actor Dan Seymour (from "Casablanca") makes an all too brief appearance. Fans of Michael J. Fox might note the appearance of the autopsy surgeon. He is played by Michael Fox. Because two people in the union cannot have the same name, the star of "Back to the Future" added a "J." to his name. This actor is the reason why
