Kate is excited to learn that Gladys Stroud, a renowned hotel critic who Kate has invited to the hotel several times over the past three years, is finally coming to review the hotel. Kate's excitement turns to horror when she learns that Mrs. Stroud is coming only because Uncle Joe's brochure for what he envisions the hotel to be in the future - one complete with a private bathroom and telephone for each room, swimming pool, tennis courts, steam room, bowling alley and indoor ice skating rink - was accidentally mailed to her. Kate is afraid Mrs. Stroud will indeed review the hotel mentioning false advertising, which has closed other hotels she's reviewed in the past. An angry Kate demands that Uncle Joe intercept Mrs. Stroud before she arrives, explaining the mix-up and hoping that she'll understand and forgive. Uncle Joe, upon seeing how tough as nails Mrs. Stroud is, decides instead to come up with his own scheme to make Mrs. Stroud believe all those amenities are indeed in the hotel without actually showing her any of them.
