Detective film noir parody
woodyteegra-121 July 2013
Douglas Wambaugh visits his estranged wife Myriam ostensibly to get her to sign divorce papers, but with a secret plan to get her to reconsider their separation. The plan goes horribly wrong when he is introduced to Miriam's new boyfriend, a retired stockbroker from out of town. Wambaugh then finds out that most of his friends already new about the the relationship but were unwilling to inform him in order to spare his feelings from being hurt. He then develops a theory that the suitor is up to no good, so he launches his own investigation, seeking the assistance of Kenny, Kimberly and Carter. His suspicions cause his friends to question his mental health, suspecting that he may be suffering from senile dementia. This causes Wambaugh to tail Hal Klosterman (Myriam's suitor), leading to unforeseen revelations.

When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.

Warning: Spoilers
My title is from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Tuco (Eli Wallach) seems to be giving advice to killers. To me, it's a complaint about annoying screenplays in which the bad guy talks and talks, which allows the hero to save himself. Similar to Tommy Lee Jones "explaining himself" in Under Siege. Too predictable. How many "kidnappings" in TV shows turn out to be faked by the apparent victims?

From The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly: Tuco is in a bubble bath. The One Armed Man enters the room One Armed Man: I've been looking for you for 8 months. Whenever I should have had a gun in my right hand, I thought of you. Now I find you in exactly the position that suits me. I had lots of time to learn to shoot with my left.

Tuco kills him with the gun he has hidden in the foam Tuco: When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.

Just Go Ahead and Shoot Us!

Thing get ridiculous fast when a con man gets romantic with Miriam and grabs her money. Wambaugh, who is still married to her though separated from her, moves in. Things are at least reasonable until the last ten minutes when pure idiocy reigns. It's not even funny.
