[first lines - continued on from the cliffhanger recap of the pervious episode, but still pre-opening credits]
Lizzie Birdsworth : [slumping down into a chair in shock] Gawd!
[looks at Arthur]
Lizzie Birdsworth : Is it true?
Arthur Charlton : Yes, mum.
Lizzie Birdsworth : [as he sits opposite her] Oh... yes. I can see it now. All these years I didn't know whether you were alive or dead. Look at you... you look really good. You done alright for yourself, eh son? You're a credit to the name of Birdsworth.
Arthur Charlton : My name's Charlton now, mum. I was adopted. They were very nice people who treated me just like their own son.
Lizzie Birdsworth : Fair enough. How'd you find me anyway?
Arthur Charlton : Jigsaw. It's an organisation that helps people find missing relatives.
Lizzie Birdsworth : Oh I bet you wished you'd never bothered when you found out your old mum was a jailbird.
Arthur Charlton : That's not true, mum. I was just glad you were alive.
Lizzie Birdsworth : [almost in tears] Look, Arthur, I know you must be ashamed of me, but when they first put me in the stir... I didn't do it... I was innocent. I just wanted you to know.
Arthur Charlton : [holding her hand across the table] I know, mum. We've found each other now and that's all that matters as far as I'm concerned.
[Lizzie looks at him, smiling through the tears]
