[a large amount of boxes have just been delivered to reception as Ann arrives]
Pat Slattery : Madam Ballinger's requisites.
Ann Reynolds : This is ridiculous. How on earth can I be expected to maintain discipline and order amongst the prisoners when she's getting this kind of treatment? Just once... just *once*... I would like to be able to do my job without any interference.
[she passes Dennis on the way to her office]
Dennis Cruickshank : Morning Mrs Reynolds.
Ann Reynolds : Is it?
Dennis Cruickshank : [seeing all the deliveries] Crikey! Has somebody bought out a warehouse?
-
Ann Reynolds : You're certain you're well enough to work so soon?
Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson : I wouldn't be here otherwise.
Ann Reynolds : Your doctor knows you're at work?
Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson : Yes.
[changes tone completely]
Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson : I've been meaning to phone and thank you for clearing things with the Department.
Ann Reynolds : You were being framed. I will not tolerate that sort of thing while I'm in charge. You'll find there've been quite a few changes since you've been away.
Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson : Yes. Delighted to hear you've introduced new disciplinary measures.
Ann Reynolds : They are not new but they are being followed now.
Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson : You think it's wise allowing Ballinger all those privileges, then?
Ann Reynolds : That's a departmental decision; it's not your place to question it. There have been too many people bending the rules to suit themselves and it is going to stop.
Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson : You implying that *I* bend the rules?
Ann Reynolds : [coldly] You have on several occasions. But if you put one step out of line I will personally throw you out. Now if that's all I've got work to do.
[Joan says nothing and then leaves]

Ann Reynolds : [to Fry re Joan] It is a disaster. Anything could happen. I dont want her here. Transfer her to Barnhurst; I know there's a vacancy there.
