Enjoyable but not exactly realistic

The cases presented on "Public Defender" are supposedly taken from actual cases across the United States. However, in so many shows Bart Matthews spends countless hours investigating cases...something real public defenders rarely ever do. Still, the show is entertaining.

When it begins, a guy on leave from the military is headed how to see his pregnant wife before he ships overseas. A nice lady stops to give him a lift and he accidentally leaves his wallet in the car. Unfortunately, the rented car is later used by someone who runs over a blind woman...and with the wallet in the car the cops assume the soldier did it. So, it's up to Bart to sift through the records and interview people in order to try to locate the woman who picked up the accused.

The most interesting reason to see the show is to see Alan Hale Jr. (the Skipper from "Gilligan's Island") in one of the roles. Otherwise, it's a bit unrealistic but enjoyable enough to make it worth your time if you like the series. I do...even though Matthews (Reed Hadley) is stiff as a board and makes Joe Friday look like a swinger!
