Warning: Spoilers
It looks like a mundane case for Frank Marker but it has a literate and reflective script from Philip Broadley.

It opens with Reggie Aston shouting and chasing Sir John Reveldale down the streets of Windsor.

Sir John is embarrassed by his pursuer and tries to shake him off.

Reggie pops in to see Marker. Reggie has been living abroad and is concerned about the whereabouts of Vyvyan Reveldale.

He is Sir John's son. Reggie was his tutor and he also went to school with Sir John. The latter thought that there was something unhealthy about the relationship Reggie had with his son.

When Marker goes to see Sir John. He is shocked that Sir John seems to be unbothered that Vyvyan has dropped out of university and gone off the grid. However Sir John might be straitlaced and direct, he is fascinated by the study of insects.

Eventually Vyvyan's mother comes to see Marker and hires him to track down her son in London.

There is a lot of innuendo used to suggest a homosexual relationship and a lot of it flies over Marker's head. The truth is more philosophical.

Marker learns that Vyvyan is brilliant young man with his life ahead of him. Everything comes easily to him whether it is sports or mental pursuits. Yet Vyvyan has discovered more about life as he went to live in a poor country where some people did anything to survive.

There are some very good performances from Richard Hurndall and Alan Webb. It is a small scale episode where you can easily miss the literary references. I did notice that when Sir John was cornered by Reggie, it was at an antique bookshop.
