Chronologically speaking, September 16, 1987 is the latest leap date in the series' history and is only twelve years away from the "present" of Quantum Leap in 1999. The date is also well within the time period of when Sam Beckett was already working on time travel experiments, as a member of the "Starbright Project" with Al Calavicci and Sam's wife Donna Elees, whom he met in 1984. (Sam had also leaped into her past in the second episode of the series to ensure their marriage and prevent Sam from being left at the altar.) Project Quantum Leap itself, with Al and Donna as team members, began in June 1989 just two years after the events of the leap seen in the Evil Leaper episodes.
Every time Thames recenters to a new position, the sound is the stormtrooper's blaster from Star Wars.
This is the ninth and final time that Sam leaps into a woman, namely Liz Tate.
This episode was directed by Debbie Allen, who appeared as Joanna Chapman in Private Dancer - October 6, 1979 (1991).
This is the only episode in which two people leap into the Waiting Room.
