The series "Rawhide" is supposed to be set some time in the 1860's. However while in Deadhorse Wishbone makes reference to the head wound sustained by Hannibal H. Plew as having been caused by a shot from a 30-30 caliber rifle. In fact the 30-30 cartridge was not introduced until 1894 by Winchester for use in it's model 94 lever action rifle. Lever action rifles of that time were most likely chambered for the 44-40 cartridge.
In the scene where "Hey Soos" is riding ahead of the rest his horse is spooked and he is bitten by a rattlesnake. He is leading alongside of him and his horse a white horse. This is supposed to be the mount belonging to Hannibal H. Plew. However Hannibal had earlier revealed that his mount was a white mule that he calls Henrietta. Later, while in Deadhorse Hannibal is seen with Henrietta which now is a white mule.
When Deputy Ef Wiley (Hugh Sanders) is building the gallows he is seen hammering a nail into a piece of lumber. Later he can be seen hammering that same nail in the exact same spot despite the fact that he had previously hammered the nail completely into the wood.
