"Rawhide" Incident at the Buffalo Smokehouse (TV Episode 1959) Poster

Eric Fleming: Gil Favor

Quotes

  • Gil Favor : [Writing in a journal]  The trail log says every workin' cowhand has a string of horses assigned to him. That string's made up of the different kinds he's gonna need. Circle horse, cuttin' horse, a ropin' horse, one or two broncos. He works with 'em, worries over 'em, and wouldn't be worth a brass nickel without 'em. Same goes for me, 'cept my string isn't horses - it's men. I'm Gil Favor, trail boss.

  • Gil Favor : People! You know, there are times I do like cattle better.

  • Gil Favor : Pete, you and me's gotta find a river that's big enough to stop that fire, and a spot shallow enough to get the herd across. Let's go.

  • Lon Grant : [singing]  It was late last night when my Lord came home, enquiring about his lady. And the only answer he received, she's gone with the gypsy daisy.

    [He speaks to Gil]

Lon Grant : Mrs Walsh don't have a right good ear for music.

Gil Favor : That's too bad.

Lon Grant : Especially when her husband ain't home.

  • Lon Grant : He wouldn't give you the time of day.

    Gil Favor : Why not?

Lon Grant : Jeremiah don't like men any younger than fifty. Because he's afraid his wife just might...

Gil Favor : I'll be looking for that crossing.

  • Wes Thomas : I'm glad Cross didn't kill you, sonny. He's about used up his bravery ration for the day or maybe the whole year. So you're gonna have to run an errand for me.

Gil Favor : What's the errand?

Wes Thomas : There's a hut a couple of miles down river from here, sits maybe 50 yards from the bank. There's a girl waiting there for me. Bring her here.

Gil Favor : What's to make her believe me?

Wes Thomas : Your honest face. and this. Her name's Rose Morton. She's a lot prettier than that. But don't go getting any ideas. You wouldn't stand a chance with that bad hand and all.

Gil Favor : And if I bring her back, what happens then?

  • Rose Morton : What happened to your hand?

Gil Favor : One of Wes's friends shot me up.

Rose Morton : He must've been drunk. Because he didn't put it through your throat.

  • Gil Favor : Rose Norton.

    Rose Morton : Yeah.

Gil Favor : I'm Gil Favor. You're supposed to come along with me.

Rose Morton : Oh, you're rushing things a bit, aren't you?

  • Wes Thomas : So you're gonna die, trail boss.

Gil Favor : Want me to turn my back?

Wes Thomas : Make it easier for you?

Gil Favor : Make it easier for you.

Rose Morton : Wes, don't do it.

Wes Thomas : No, no, I wanna see your face. That's all I want. Just the memory of your face.

  • Rose Morton : Wes isn't a killer. I said, Wes isn't a killer.

Gil Favor : Paymaster, guards at the fort might not agree with you. If they could speak for themselves.

Rose Morton : They didn't just let him out with the money. They shot at them, didn't they?

Gil Favor : Matt Beeker shoot at him too?

    Rose Morton : Who's he?

Gil Favor : Little man, 60, 65, unarmed. Stood ten feet away from him. Shot him down just to prove a point.

    Rose Morton : What point?

    Gil Favor : That he's a killer.
