This Rawhide story concerns a small detour that Paul Brinegar makes with the chuck wagon. Wishbone is meeting an old friend with a few hundred head of cattle who wants to merge his small herd with that of the Gil Favor herd. The owner gives Wishbone the letter of ownership so that the transfer be legal.
But the three hands with Wishbone turn on the old man and probably would have killed him outright if he hadn't hidden the letter of ownership which they would need.
Three mean guys Anthony Caruso, Hal Baylor, and Michael Conrad who has some history with Brinegar go to work on him. Wishbone is old and cranky, but he's a tough one and he's smart. Of course he's rescued to be back for the next Rawhide story.
