- Rowdy Yates: Boss, your troubles are over.
- Gil Favor: Where's the vet?
- Rowdy Yates: Ah, he's back in Danville. Oh, see, the moment I told him about the whole situation, he knew what the answer was.
- Gil Favor: Well, did he impart any of the secret to you?
- Rowdy Yates: Yeah, that's right.
- Gil Favor: Do you think, maybe, you might be able to share this with me?
- Rowdy Yates: Oh, yeah, well.
- Gil Favor: You! You said something about them maybe being sick. Huh?
- Rowdy Yates: Yeah. That's right.
- Gil Favor: Well, why ain't you on the way to the nearest town to find a vet?
- Rowdy Yates: Well, ah, oh, okay.
- Gil Favor: I guess you could trail boss all your life, and still come up with something new to learn.
- Pete Nolan: So you were in the Army, huh?
- Will Butler: That's right.
- Pete Nolan: You didn't have to check with your commanding officer every time before you fired a shot, did ya?
- Will Butler: I'd just as soon not talk about the Army.
- Pete Nolan: Why did you get that picture up there?
- Will Butler: Because my father wants it there.
- Sam Butler: What're you after? More money? I mean, there could be more money. For your arm, say.
- Tom Cowan: You just don't understand, Mr Butler. I don't want money. I don't want land. We made a deal I'm sticking to it. Or trying to.
- Sam Butler: I wouldn't blame ya. Passing through. Wanting to see Jenny again.
- Tom Cowan: Mr Butler! When you have somebody in the hospital with you write our girl that you're dead, you don't plan on ever seeing her again.
- Sheriff: Letting him go 10 years ago wasn't right. Letting him go now ain't right.
- Sam Butler: Frank! Nobody but saints are right all of the time. You and me, we're not saints, are we?
- Tom Cowan: They say that marriages are made in heaven. Well, maybe some are. But this one was made in a bank.
- Sam Butler: Cowan, you gonna tell the truth?
- [Cowan shakes his head]
- Sam Butler: All right. Then I'll have to tell it myself.
- Wade: What are you doing here?
- Will Butler: I thought you might need some help.
- Ralston: Why, you ain't even got a gun on you.
- Will Butler: No, but you have, and you still ain't taken him.
- Jenny Conway: Pa told you? Pa's been telling you what to do all your life. And you've been doing it.
- Jenny Conway: In all these years were you ever sorry you had that letter sent? Did you wish even once that I knew you were alive? That I was waiting?
- Tom Cowan: I was too busy learning how to live with one hand.
- Jenny Conway: The day you married me and ran off, couldn't you at least have told me you were going?
