This one is about Jill witnessing a murder and then being taken hostage by the murderer and an accomplice to keep her quiet.
This is the worst possible way the show could have ended - with yet another hostage crisis after there have already been an infinite number of them, but I guess from the producers' perspective it's a fitting way to end it since this plot has been reused way more than any other one. It's remarkable that ABC allowed the show to end this way and allowed the same story line to be used so many times throughout the show's four-year run.
Of course, just like with all of the previous hostage crises, you know nothing's going to happen to any of the main characters because without them there wouldn't be a show, so once again there's absolutely no suspense. The story line about a wealthy executive's son being in trouble with the law and the son then asking his father to bail him out has also been seen many times before on other TV shows so there's nothing original about that either.
The criminals aren't even interesting or entertaining as Marc Singer is a terrible actor and isn't convincing as a hood and Geoffrey Lewis is horrible and annoying as his accomplice, with his stupidity, fake southern accent and dumb dialogue.
Ryker is back to his usual self and is once again yelling everything and talking about his ulcers again, both of which are just maddening.
Once again Bruce Fairbairn didn't comb his hair and his acting is as bad as ever. He's as wooden as a tree trunk and has no clue how to act. What a dreadful addition to the show he turned out to be. He's certainly going out on a low note.
The exact same flashback that was used in Nightmare from last season where Jill and Mike are talking about having a baby was used again here, only this time it's Mike having the flashback instead of Jill, but changing the person who is having the flashback doesn't change the fact that this is the EXACT SAME flashback. Wow. Talk about sloppy.
Georg Stanford Brown and Sam Melville do their best to try to inject some life into this debacle but they can't save this train wreck.
What a sorry way to end the show - another hostage crisis, bad acting, reused flashbacks, uncombed hair, stupidity, and ridiculous dialogue. Yikes. This is one of the worst series finales I've ever seen. It was downright ugly and embarrassing.
