Insanity abounds - ANOTHER hostage crisis and a STAGGERING amount of stupidity
pkfloydmh4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This one is about an assassin named Burdette who tries to get revenge on a police officer who foiled his attempted hit on an informer.

There is yet another hostage crisis, which is the third one already this season and the second one involving Jill. It's also the eleventh one overall.

There is more stupidity in this episode than in any episode I've seen so far - way, way more. It's overwhelming. No other episode even comes close to this turkey.

Let's start with Burdette, who is referred to in the show as the top hit man in the country and the smartest, but you certainly wouldn't know it here as he's as dumb as can be. First of all, he attempts the hit on a tarmac with a policeman standing right behind him and numerous other officers nearby on the tarmac. How did he expect to escape with all of these officers around him and why would he even attempt the hit to begin with when there was an officer standing right behind him? Then he takes all of his payoff money with him in the van when he drives it onto the tarmac, which was easily discovered by the cops when his van was searched and can now be used as evidence against him. Then, after he escapes from the hospital, instead of going into hiding or hightailing it out of town, he inexplicably decides to get revenge against the officer who stopped his hit attempt, which will only expose himself even further and possible get himself arrested or killed. Then when he takes Jill hostage, he reveals his whole plot to her and kills his associate in front of her, so she's now an eyewitness to this murder, and yet he keeps her alive.

Next we have the cops. When Burdette drove onto the tarmac in his van, why didn't they ask him for his ID to make sure he was an airport employee? Then when Burdette is in the hospital, why didn't they have him in handcuffs or have his legs chained? He's supposedly the best hit man in the country and just tried to kill somebody and yet he's not restrained at any time while he's in the hospital, including when he's being transferred to the jail ward. Are you kidding me? Then when Jill and the officer are taking Burdette to the jail ward and they're in the elevator, the officer, knowing Burdette is not cuffed or chained, appallingly stands right in front of him and turns his back to him, which results in him being kicked and overtaken by him. Then when Burdette is being chased by Danko and Dawson in one car and Owens and Webster in another car behind them, why didn't Owens and Webster continue with the chase once they confirmed Danko and Dawson were okay after their car spun out?

Then we have Jill. When Burdette kicked the officer when they were in the elevator, why didn't she do anything to try to stop him? She could have crushed him with the wheelchair, but yet she just stood there and did nothing.

There are plot holes too. When Burdette kicked the officer in the elevator, he immediately keeled over as if knocked out, but there's no way that kick could have knocked him out. Then Burdette calls Dawson at the police station when he had no way of knowing how to reach him there or that he was even there at all. He also had no way of knowing when the informer would be arriving at the airport or what plane he would be taking.

On the plus side, there's an awesome spinout which is the best one I've ever seen on this show and there's also a good action scene at the end, but everything else is a farce and can't be taken seriously.
