What irritated me about these early episodes of the show is they had a laugh track something that ALWAYS irritates me as a matter of fact about any tv comedy show. During a flu epidemic Mister Kaufman's son Martin comes to visit after a year and a half in the peace corps. Kaufman is so proud of his son but has trouble expressing his love like many men of his generation even though it is there strong and deep. The younger Kaufman gives Pete's class a stirring lecture on the Peace Corps and what it does. The epidemic forces desperate measures as Pete takes over a cooking class and Alice a dance class! Kaufman is even forced to take over biology (he has to ask the students for help).

Mr Kaufman's Son Visits

During a flu epidemic, Mr Kaufman's son Martin is back from the Peace Corps for a visit.
A very good Season 1 episode. John Rubinstein plays Martin and receives an "introducing" credit even thought he had appeared in "Dragnet" and "The Virginian" episodes two years before this. He gives a great performance here and did many more in film and TV after this. Mr Kaufman has some trouble expressing his emotions to his son and there is a touching scene at the end. There is also plenty of comedy in this as well, as many teachers are out with the flu, the ones left have to pick up the slack. Pete has to teach home ec and Kaufman does biology. Funniest is when Alice takes over a dance class.
